Christopher David Harris

A Gen Xer, lifelong Trekkie, and self-proclaimed huge nerd, Christopher began his journey as an Air Force brat in a southern church music family. Early childhood years spent in a divided Europe in the 80s before returning to his native Virginia gave him a healthy appreciation for the importance of storytelling to our journey as human beings, as well as a love of the action sci-fi, fantasy, and animation television and film prominent on the only English language TV station available.

Aimed by his family at a career on the church stage, he set off confidently for music ministry training at college and then seminary. It was there that he plowed straight into the conflict between the faith he was raised in and his sexuality. Realizing that as a gay man, that path was over for him, he jumped to the most obvious choice: Musical Theatre. Not long after, a chance audition for the US Air Force Band led him to serve as a vocalist in DC.

After nearly a decade, he returned to civilian life, and during the pandemic, he discovered his passion for screenwriting. He enjoys writing in the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, and superheroes with an eye to LGBTQIA+ representation. His personal journey also inspires him to focus on themes of religious and family trauma, connection, and finding your truth. He’s a three-time Austin Film Festival Second Rounder, a Semi-Finalist in the Universal Writer’s Lab, and is currently in the Writer’s Guild Foundation Veterans Writing Project.
